Kamal shares his experiences and lessons on a variety of topics including racism, responsibility, health, education and money. He shares in simple straight forward language his struggles and his triumphs. He offers brief summaries of books that have aided and inspired him as well as many quotes from loving parents. He is obviously a young man who is committed to assisting other youth who may not have had as much support and guidance as he. With this heart felt effort to bless other young men, he adds to his own blessings.

It is unfortunate yet true that many black youth grow up these days without the benefit of a father. While few of us doubt that there are benefits to being raised by a father, the plague continues in the Black community to the detriment of us all. This book represents one young man’s attempt to share his father. It represents a young man’s attempt to expose other youth to the lessons he received from his father. It is one young man’s attempt to share this most sacred of relationships for the benefit of his community.

The book is written in a simplistic and straight forward style and casually evolves into a road map to success. While it certainly offers the opportunity for youth to benefit vicariously from Kamal’s experience it also provides a window for parents, educators and others who work with young people to see the needs, strivings, challenges and motivations of young people with some insight into how to reach and motivate them.
